Information

At Jo's Inclusive Early Years Teaching, I understand you may have questions about my home-based support for young children. Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about my services in Liverpool.

Frequently asked questions

As a qualified Early Years practitioner with six years of experience, I am dedicated to providing child-centred sessions that support early development, inclusive practice, and family partnership. My strong passion for inclusive support for children with SEND drives my approach.

What age range do you work with and what does a session look like?

I support children aged 1–5. Sessions are home-based and child-centred, focusing on play, sensory activities, and everyday routines to support early development. We'll discuss your child's specific needs to tailor each session.

How do home-based sessions benefit my child compared to nursery or clinic settings?

Home-based sessions provide a safe and familiar environment, which can be particularly beneficial for children who find busy settings overwhelming. This allows children to make progress in a place where they feel comfortable, without the pressure of having to "perform" on demand.

Can you support additional needs or medical requirements?

Yes, I have a strong passion for inclusive support for children with SEND. I am also trained in Paediatric First Aid, ensuring your child's safety and well-being. Please discuss any specific needs during our initial consultation.

What is your approach to involving and communicating with parents?

Parents are treated as equal partners. I explain what I am doing in plain language, ensuring families feel included and informed. You are the expert on your child, and any suggestions I make will fit your real-life context.

What happens regarding booking, cancellations, or if my child is unwell?

We will discuss practicalities like booking, cancellations, and what happens if your child is unwell during our initial discussion. My goal is to be flexible and accommodate your family's needs as much as possible.

What if I worry my child is "behind" or has difficulties?

Many parents have these quiet worries. I want to assure you that I am not judging you or your child. I expect big feelings, meltdowns, and wobbles. My job is to build on your child's strengths and make day-to-day life easier, not to "fix" them.

How do you ensure inclusive support for children with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND)?

My approach combines specialist SEND experience with a calm, home-based style. I follow the child's lead, using play and sensory activities. I don't push eye contact or interaction before a child is ready; instead, I notice what they are already communicating and build from there.

What makes your approach unique for children with SEND?

My approach is unique because it offers specialist SEND experience in a very calm, home-based setting. This allows children who find busy environments overwhelming to thrive. Parents are seen as equal partners and our focus is on building on existing strengths in a supportive, non-judgmental way.
